The Art & Tech Open Call ’23 final was organised as a part of the Media Lab Spring Demo Day 2023.
What is the Art & Tech Open Call?
The Art & Tech Open Call seeks applications from artists and creatives who are passionate about pushing the boundaries of what is possible with technology. This grant is intended to fund projects that explore the intersection of art and technology in exciting and meaningful ways. Applications are encouraged from teams who are prepared to produce a prototype or a demo of their idea.
The amount of the development grant per project varies yearly. In the Art & Tech Open Call ’23 the development grants were between EUR 5000 – 15 000 per project.
The availability of Aalto Studios’ equipment, facilities and personnel determine the winning project’s designated schedule. It is worth noting that some of the facilities might only be available during the summer months. The production period for the prototypes/demos is typically from June to December each year.
The projects could focus on, but are not limited to, the following topics:
- new methods and formats for audiovisual storytelling
- technology-enhanced art, design, and entertainment
- augmentation of human creativity through computational methods
- creation of novel interactive experiences
