Pre-incubator

The Aalto Digital Creatives pre-incubator programme aims to help creative industry students, researchers and practitioners on their path towards entrepreneurship. Information about the next programme is posted here during Spring 2024.

Who can apply?

The programme is looking for applicants with a creative industry background. The business ideas could be inspired by, but are not limited to the following topics: 

  • new methods and formats for audiovisual storytelling 
  • technology enhanced art, design, and entertainment 
  • augmentation of human creativity through computational methods 
  • creation of novel interactive experiences 
  • platforms for and by the creative industries 

Applications are accepted from individuals or teams with a business idea where creativity meets digital technology. Previous business experience is not required. The selection process evaluates the business idea’s potential for further development, the solution it provides and how it shapes a sustainable future.

There will be 10 to 15 teams or a maximum of 30 people accepted into each batch.

Please note, applicants must be Finnish residents. The programme is not available in remote or hybrid mode and applicants are required to participate in weekly workshops taking place on Aalto University campus in Otaniemi, Espoo, Finland.

What are the programme contents?

With the help of Aalto Startup Center’s business advisory services, the teams develop their business ideas, connect with potential industry partners, iterate their business plans, define potential customers and plan how to attract them.

Aalto Studios provides access to technology and helps the participants to connect with creative industry experts. Find out more about equipment and services on Aalto Studios website.

The programme consists of six modules which introduce the basics of Asset Development, Solution Development and Business Development.

Each module consists of workshop days, face-to-face coaching and online sessions with the selected keynote speakers. Coaching sessions and workshops are organised at Aalto University’s campus in Otaniemi, Espoo.
